DWAPARA YUGA PRESS RELEASE: 75th Anniversary edition of “Astrological World Cycles”

Fort Worth, Texas – December 28, 2007

“Astrological World Cycles, Original First Edition, Copyright 1933 by Tara Mata (Laurie Pratt)” is the 75th anniversary edition of the tour de force series of articles in Paramhansa Yogananda’s East-West magazine demonstrating the connection of the astronomical phenomenon known as the precession of the equinoxes with the great cycles of world history, astrology and ancient Hindu Scripture.

Tara was an astrologer, direct disciple and chief editor of the Indian yogi Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the 1946 spiritual classic “Autobiography of a Yogi”. Tara’s articles were based on the work of Yogananda’s guru, Sri Yukteswar. At the time of publication in the early 30s, yoga and Yogananda were relatively unknown. Tara helped build Yogananda’s organization, SRF, and indirectly inspired the creation of its largest spin-off, Ananda, formed by its vice-president Swami Kriyananda. Over the past decades interest has dramatically increased as many of the guru’s predictions have been proven.

Tara came from an intellectually brilliant family, related to both Joseph Smith, Jr., the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (LDS or Mormons) and Mitt Romney, presidential candidate. Her grandfather, Orson Pratt, was the editor for Joseph Smith, Jr. Yogananda said of Tara: "It is not necessary for her to meditate in this life. By editing my writings, and because she came here a highly realized soul, she does not require this. I have already set her place for her in heaven."

The publisher can be contacted via Dwaparayuga.com. “Astrological World Cycles, Original First Edition, Copyright 1933” can be purchased from the publishers (Lulu) and will shortly be available via Amazon.com and other booksellers.

Dwapara Yuga: First XO-1 laptops

In line with the goals for this blog and small publishing effort, one laptop has already been donated .

The author found the unit very well executed, if a little unfamiliar at first. At the price, it is very full featured and a great tool for education. Its existence is spurring Microsoft and Intel into making concessions for developing countries also.

As sales for the two books associated with this blog mount, more laptops will be donated. It should be noted that the proceeds on each sale are less than 1/10th of the cover price and such obscure topics as Dwapara Yuga and World Cycles are not international best sellers.

More information is available on the XO-1 laptop on Wikipedia.

As of 2/09, India has announced a $20 laptop project, which may render the OLPC redundant.

DWAPARA YUGA PRESS RELEASE: Franklin’s Almanac updated for a New Age

Fort Worth, Texas – December 1, 2007
“Dwapara Yuga and Yogananda: blueprint for a New Age by Poor Richard” is a take on Franklin’s Almanac, offering not weather, household hints and amusements but teachings of simple living and high thinking from Yogananda, the author of the spiritual classic “Autobiography of a Yogi”. From 1920, the Indian Yogi spoke of a New Age of “Dwapara Yuga” unfolding, becoming the most popular speaker in America, with the ear of the President, the Governor of California, Burbank, Ford and Edison.

Yogananda answered the question of why civilization fell from the Romans to the Renaissance with the ancient idea of a natural, 24,000-year cycle of time called a Yuga. He explained that from 1600 to 1900 we transitioned to a New Age characterized by a breakdown of the idea of a material world and a growing consciousness of the underlying unity of peoples, energy and nature. Franklin, with his belief in “God as the infinite” and reincarnation, seized lightning from the sky and the scepter from the hand of tyrants, epitomizing the New Age.

Yogananda’s message of healthy diet, exercise and meditation was complimented by predictions that the future holds a coming together of the East and West, combining the spiritual qualities of India with the can-do competence of America, leading to a United States of the World – “Man must enlarge his allegiance, considering himself in the light of a world citizen. A person who truly feels: 'The world is my homeland; it is my America, my India, my Philippines, my England, my Africa,' will never lack scope for a useful and happy life. His natural local pride will know limitless expansion; he will be in touch with creative universal currents.”

The author can be contacted via Dwaparayuga.com. “Dwapara Yuga and Yogananda: blueprint for a New Age by Poor Richard” can be purchased from the publishers, Lulu.com, and will shortly be available via Amazon.com and other booksellers.
